CHAPTER 44: Bowman's Secret Off Switch Chiding them all out of the room, Sam plucked up the sleepy Vel to drop him on Dean’s shoulders, then wrapped an arm around his older brother’s side to give him support. The Winchesters lead the way out from under the seats, all three of them. Just as Sam had promised, Jacob was waiting outside the car when they first emerged from under the seat. He knelt near the open door, but he didn't have room to worry about whether he looked weird. As he counted up the tiny sprites appearing behind Sam and Dean (and the one taking a piggyback ride), he only felt more and more relieved. They were all there, right in front of him. And he'd seen to it himself that the man who made them vanish couldn't do that again. He offered a smile once they were all in view. "Ready to get going?" he asked, his deep voice a low rumble no matter how he tried to keep his volume down. He almost moved to stand and get into the car at last, but froze as a thought finally

“Why aren’t we going in the car-thing again?” Bowman’s voice, close to Jacob’s ear thanks to the sprite’s cautious perch on his shoulder, rang clear with skepticism. In response, Jacob smirked and shrugged his shoulder just enough to bob the tiny sprite up and down once. “I thought you were tired of the car after the drive all the way here,” he pointed out. Bowman’s tiny boots shifted as he flinched to keep his balance. Once certain he wouldn’t fall, one leafy wing slapped Jacob’s neck. “I was,” he insisted. “But if we’re going somewhere outside, I’d rather not be seen, and you can’t run fast enough to keep me out of sight.” “It’s true,” Jacob lamented. “But I’m not planning on running there. Lemme just show you.” He considered that fair warning for the front door of the house to open up. Jacob stepped onto the small front porch and paused to assess the world outside. A slight breeze cooled off the warm day, and only a few clouds drifted around overhead. The tidy lawns of the
The new human was moving in today, which meant Sawyer was holed up in the walls, trying to make sure he was as out of the way as possible. He had already gone through the usual steps in between the old tenant moving out and the landlord coming in to inspect the place and make new repairs- his entrances in the walls and cabinets had been fixed up so that they weren’t noticeable, and he had stocked up on food and water so that he didn’t have to go out any time soon.
Despite being so prepared, however, Sawyer was too curious to just stay in his house. He by no means wanted to be anywhere out of the walls, not with boxes and furnitur

Colfax had hardly moved since the woman entered, all in a flurry of doing her job and doing it quickly. He stared at the dishes and the snacks brought in, all much smaller than he was used to seeing. Suddenly it made more sense to him why there were usually so many cookies at once; one was little more than a bite or two.
Adrian broke the staring contest somewhat, by leaning forward to retrieve one of the saucers to hand it off to him. "Don't look so surprised, you've seen tea sets before."
Colfax narrowed his eyes, but took the small plate and teacup in extra-careful hands; they seemed more fragile this way. "I'm not usually big enough to h
CHAPTER 2: A Secret Friend
The sight of the kid coming around the bed didn’t unfreeze Sam in his fear, but it did make him glance upwards to meet the big brown eyes. There was a moment were the two kids just stared at each other with equal shock in their faces.
Then the larger, younger kid’s eyes lit up.
That was all Sam could remember clearly. The rest just happened too fast for his mind to comprehend. The floor shook under his boots, and two hands slammed down over him, casting his body into darkness. Sam gave a yelp of fear, afraid they would come down the rest of the way around him, and fell to the ground in a ball. He curl

Tony was pacing in the living room, Pepper watching him go back and forth until she got dizzy. "Tony, you need to calm down. Peter won't be home until at least three-thirty. What are you going to pace until then?"
The man nodded, putting a hand to his mouth. "Yup, that's just what I'm gonna do. What if he doesn't want to stay here? What if he secretly hates us? What if he secretly hates me?" The man made a face at that. Pepper laughed.
"It's been three weeks. I'm sure that if he hated you, you would have been the first to know. Trust me, Peter's not the kind to kiss your ass." She shook her head, getting up to take her nervous fiancee into

Burgers and Bacon and Bobby
Sam and Bobby were quick with the meal. Throughout the preparation time, Bobby hadn't pried about what upset the young kid, his cheeks bright and splotchy while he blinked more often than usual. It was obvious Sam was trying to recover from whatever John had told him, but Bobby couldn't hear what had gone down in the library.
Nudging Sam in the arm, Bobby winked at him. "Got some of Dean's favorite," he said. "Why don't you be the one to bring it to him."
The creases in Sam's face vanished as he looked up at Bobby finally. Up until then he'd just been punching the ground meat and forcing it into the shape of a patty. Nothing a kid couldn't
"Whaddya think's in there?"
Sam squinted his eyes, flat on his stomach in order to see where Dean was gesturing to.
The smaller Winchester was peering into a crack they'd found in Sam's room at Bobby's house. They'd never noticed it before, after years of staying in the place. Not until Dean, reduced to a fraction of his height, had begun investigating the room while Sam read a book on the floor, relaxing in the summer heat with a glass of water nearby to help keep cool.
Exploring the house at his new height was turning out to be a good way to pass the time while John and Bobby continued to try and track down a cure for Dean.

Dean had grown somewhat adjusted to the heights he saw constantly from Sam's hands, but he felt he might never adjust to being so easily picked up and moved around by his younger brother.
When Sam stood, he had Dean standing in one hand and the other hand was occupied by the flashlight they had used to attempt to probe the inside of the walls with. Unfortunately, the entrance to the walls was too small for the flashlight or Sam to fit, and Dean could only make out the details to the edge of the area the light filled. Beyond that was solid darkness, where anything could be lurking.
Though he had a silver knife and his colt, Dean didn't want
Jacob pursed his lips in an effort to school his expression. He’d definitely heard the sound of Bowman’s landing, though he hadn’t expected it at all. He tread carefully on grassy patches and whatever stones he could find until he could catch up, and then he squatted down so he could see.
Bowman sat up and lifted his arms and wings out of the mud he’d careened right into. Globs of soaked earth dropped from the limbs with tiny plops and Jacob bit determinedly on his lower lip. It wouldn’t do any good to laugh now.
Even covered head to toe in mud, it was very easy to tell when Bowman was about to boil over.
